DICATECh was established in 2012, following the university reform dictated by Law 240/2010, through the aggregation of groups of professors and researchers from the Politecnico whose scientific and educational competences are characterized, on one hand, by a high level of scientific specialization, and on the other hand, by the ability to develop interdisciplinary synergies on complex issues that typically characterize Civil, Environmental, and Building Engineering.
In the previous departmental organization of the Politecnico, these groups belonged to different entities: DIAC (Department of Water and Chemical Engineering), DAU (Department of Architecture and Urban Planning), DICA (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering), and DIASS (Department of Engineering for the Environment and Sustainable Development).
Today, DICATECh includes five CUN areas (03, 04, 08, 09, 12) and 21 scientific disciplinary sectors, covering a wide range of disciplines ranging from the field of Chemical Sciences (CHIM/07) to Civil Engineering and Architecture (ICAR/01, ICAR/02, ICAR/03, ICAR/04, ICAR/05, ICAR/06, ICAR/07, ICAR/09, ICAR/10, ICAR/11, ICAR/14, ICAR/17, ICAR/18, ICAR/20, ICAR/22), with elements related to Earth Sciences (GEO/02, GEO/05), Industrial Engineering (ING-IND/22), and Legal Sciences (IUS/10, IUS/14).
